Release: Prominent African-American And Latino Leader Endorse Aaron Lieberman For Governor

PHOENIX, AZ - Aaron Lieberman is honored to have earned the notable endorsements of former lawmaker, Representative Dr. Geraldine Peten, and serving Legislative District 19 Representative Lorenzo Sierra.

With over 30 years of experience as a Teacher, Turn-Around Principal, and retired School Superintendent, Dr. Peten knows the difficult challenges facing our state, especially when it comes to education, quality of life, and communities of color. In her time at the legislature, Dr. Peten championed education as her top priority along with quality of life initiatives such as democratic participation, access to healthcare, a safe and clean environment, living-wage jobs, affordable housing, and reducing mass incarceration. She was a key voice in raising the profile of issues impacting the African-American community.

Dr. Peten stated: "Having served with Aaron in the Arizona State House, I know his character and the kind of leader he will be as governor. His strength lies in his commitment to the people of Arizona and the determination he has in bringing all of us together. He is a proven leader both as a successful CEO and elected official. It is for these reasons and more that I proudly endorse Aaron Lieberman for Governor.”

Lieberman stated: “During her time in the State House, Dr. Peten was an incredible champion for all of Arizona’s students, and a leading voice highlighting the contribution of  African Americans to our state and our country.  I am so excited to have her support on this campaign and I know we can do great things together.”

Former City of Avondale Council Member and serving State Representative Lorenzo Sierra (LD19 - Avondale, Tucson, Goodyear, West Phoenix) is proud of his deep roots in the state and is focused on building a brighter future for all. In the legislature and during his time on council, Sierra has worked tirelessly to ensure that Arizona is building thriving communities, creating good jobs, and investing in education.

Representative Sierra said: "Having served with Aaron,  I know firsthand Aaron's commitment to ALL Arizonans -- I have seen it during his time at the legislature and in every day of his professional career.  I worked side by side with Aaron in the legislature to secure millions of dollars in funding for pre-k and small businesses and I know even when times are tough, he never gives up. During these incredibly divisive times, we need a leader like Aaron who has a real track record of bringing people together from every community, to get things done."

Lieberman stated: “Lorenzo Sierra is a man of the people, a native Arizonan, who has never forgotten the communities that helped raise him and gave him the opportunity to serve today. It is an honor to have his support and I am immensely proud of his endorsement of my campaign for governor today.

Lieberman concluded:  “The race for the Democratic nomination for Governor has entered a critical phase. As Arizona voters have watched the news of the last few weeks, there is renewed interest in candidates who have a demonstrated commitment of bringing people from different backgrounds and experiences together to get things done. That is my background, and that is exactly what I’ll do as Governor.  I am so grateful to have the support of incredible leaders like Representatives Peten and Sierra for this campaign.”
